Three Former Foundation Members Make The 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup Team

DALLAS, Texas - Paul Azinger, United States Ryder Cup captain, selected his final four teammates for the 2008 United States Ryder Cup Team, two of whom were past Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation Members. Hunter Mahan, a member from 1995-1998, and Chad Campbell, a member from 1987-1991, along with Steve Stricker and J.B. Holmes will join the eight who automatically qualified through their standings on the U.S Ryder Cup Points List, including: Justin Leonard, spokesperson for the Junior Golf Foundation and  member from 1985-1989, Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Kenny Perry, Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim, Ben Curtis and Boo Weekley.

"Chad Campbell is a terrific ball striker tee to green, and when I narrowed my list down to three or four players, his name came up a lot. That was important to me,” stated Azinger.

Hunter Mahan, a native of Keller, Texas and member of the PGA Tour since 2004, said, "I've got the best feelings in the world right now. I'm on the Ryder Cup team and there's nothing more to say than that, and I wish it started tomorrow. I think we are all pretty excited about it, and very much looking forward to it and excited about having it in the States and having so much fan support, so it's going to be a great event.”

The 2008 Ryder Cup will be conducted on September 16-21, 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation has served as a springboard for great success at the high school, college and professional level for many players, and Chad Campbell, Hunter Mahan, and Justin Leonard are fine examples of such achievements. The NTPGA salutes these players and wishes them much success!
