Fairway to Success Program
The Fairway to Success program is a collaborative effort between the Northern Texas PGA Golf in Schools and United Way’s Destination: Graduation. Destination: Graduation was developed in response to the fact that 43% of young people in Dallas County who enter the ninth grade do not graduate with their class – with this number rising to 48% for African Americans and 58% for Hispanics. So far this program has been implemented in three DISD schools, Thomas Jefferson High School, Justin F. Kimball High School, and W.W. Samuell High School.
The Fairway to Success Program has three main components. The first component is to introduce the game of golf to students in P.E. classes and provide after school programs for students that have a desire to further develop their golf skills. The second component is to provide support for each school’s golf team to help grow the program and allow more players to participate on the team. The third component is a $20,000.00 scholarship which is awarded to one deserving senior at each school.
Thanks to generous support from Deloitte and its employees the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation has been able to provide these scholarships as well as much needed equipment, PGA professional instruction and other resources to help implement, grow and support this program. Fairway to Success is helping to impact and change the lives of children in our community.
