10 Tips on How to Fundraise

1. Set a personal fundraising goal i.e. $250.00; $500.00, $1,000.00 or even more!

2. Identify everyone you know that may have an interest in supporting your efforts. Create a list of those people.

3. Start off by asking your parents for their support.

4. A great source is from your parent’s Christmas card mailing list. Ask if you could use that list as a starting point, and then add other people to that list i.e. teachers, golf professionals, parents of friends you play golf with etc.

5. Write a personalized letter to everyone on the list that you have developed. Make sure that your parents review the letter before you send it out.

6. The letter should be quite short and explain what you are trying to do this summer. Talk about the charities, identify the goal that you have set for yourself to raise and let them know when you need the donations returned by. There is a sample letter that can be opened and modified HERE. The highlighted text would need to be revised to fit your needs.

7. Be sure to include a self-addressed envelope to make it easy for people to quickly respond to you.

8. In addition to sending letters, you can also send emails with a link to your fundraising website that is very easy to set up. People can simply click on the link and make an on-line donation on your behalf. Click on www.active.com/donate/bfk09 to set up your fundraising website.

9. Ideally, allow yourself three to four weeks to raise money. August 20 is the fundraising deadline to have all of your money sent to the Northern Texas PGA. So the deadline for people to return their donations to you should be no later than August 18.

10. Following the fundraising deadline, send a letter to all those that donated to you letting them know how much money you raised and thank them for their personal support of your efforts.
